Holly Hunter, an American film and actress, is known for her acclaimed performances in movies like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. Her work has been recognized with many awards for her performance and has even won an Oscar. She began her career acting as an actress both on Broadway and Off Broadway. Passionate about acting since her childhood, she performed Helen Keller in a play in fifth grade. When she was in the fifth grade following a bout of mumps, she lost her hearing in the left ear. But she didn't allow that to stop her. She studied drama at college before moving to Pittsburgh and moved to New York City to follow her dreams. Hunter made her Broadway debut following an accidental meeting and Beth Henley, a playwright. Together, they wrote in Broadway Crimes of the Heart. When she moved to Los Angeles, she began looking for roles in films. Her first film role was in the role of an actress playing the leading character Swing Shift. Since then she has appeared in numerous films and television series and movies throughout a span of more than 30 years. Holly Hunter received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and has also won an award called the Women in Film Lucy Award.
